What is Counselling & Psychotherapy?

Counselling and Psychotherapy involves talking through your thoughts with a qualified Therapist.

The process includes exploring your deep processes and inner workings in a safe, structured, and accepting environment.

Specialisms

Our specialisms are listed below, however if your specific difficulty is not listed, please contact us today.
We offer support to anyone that gets in touch, and work with many different mental health needs.
Your childhood and early experiences play a huge part in the person you are today.

Perhaps you are aware of certain experiences that impacted you, or maybe you need help exploring this?

In a FIR therapy session you will have the opportunity to process memories, experiences, and trauma, in a safe, accepting environment.

My background in child psychology ensures you are working with an experienced professional, who can gently deepen your understanding of yourself.

Our Therapeutic Approach

Counselling and Psychotherapy

At FIR Counselling and Psychotherapy we use an integrative approach to therapy, meaning we combine what we believe to be the best therapeutic techniques with the person-centred approach at its core.

This means that we put the client at the heart of the process and you decide what you would like to bring to each therapy session.

During our sessions, I will combine a safe and non-judgmental space, where you can freely explore any underlying concerns. Drawing from my psychotherapeutic expertise, I will guide you through this explorative process and help you work towards positive change.

Using Creativity

We recognise the power of creative expression. Creative tools, such as metaphor, symbology and visualisation, can assist you on your journey of self-exploration. A therapy session with me may involve using creativity to tap into your emotions, help you make sense of what is unknown, and better understand your unconscious processes.

Your Therapist: Miriam Gilmore

I am a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist with registration to the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I began my training in 2014, where I first studied Counselling Skills at the University of Chester.

After graduating I spent the next 4 years training in Play and Creative Arts therapy with PTUK. I obtained my Postgraduate Diploma and began my private practice.

The 2020 pandemic brought about change and pushed me to consider an online approach. I went on to complete a Level 5 HE Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.

I have a special interest in working with anxiety and relational difficulties, as these are both things I have personally struggled with.

I offer online therapy sessions, as I believe great things can be achieved by talking face-to-face over videocall, whilst in the comfort of your own home.
